It's all about the Skin!!

After a heavy weekend of socialising and eating and drinking badly, I thought it would be a good idea if we brushed up on our Skincare knowledge.

The amazing thing about the skin is that every person you will ever meet will have a different skin issue. Each person will also have a different solution on how to fix an issue

One way of finding a solution to a skin problem is Face Mapping.

The ancient art of face mapping can help you identify the cause of your blemishes by splitting the face into several sections such as forehead, chin and nose and understanding the different 'zones'.

Each zone relates to a different area of your body.

Zone 1 &3 : Digestive system (the wine and dine area)

Always try and drink plenty of water, eat less processed foods, try to reduce the amount of fat and sugars in your diet.

Zone 2 : Liver

This is the zone where food allergies show up the most. Your liver is extremely important to you and you need to make sure you look after it. Try to drink less alcohol. Eat less dairy. Make sure you exercise regularly..

(Did you know that if you cut out half of your liver, it will grow back? *don't try this at home*)

Zone 4 & 10: Kidneys

This area is key for showing dehydration. Make you drink 2-3 litres of water a day.

Zone 7: Heart

Always keep an eye on your blood pressure. Make sure you take regular exercise. Try to cut down on spicy foods and lots of red meat. Make up can also clog a lot around this area too and cause problems.

Zone 6 & 8: Kidneys again

(read zone 4 & 10. Cut down on fizzy drinks.

Zone 5&9: Respiratory System

This is an area I struggle with!

If you struggle with redness here and sometimes breakouts, try not to let your body overheat. Eat more cooling foods. The respiratory system will also show up if you are a smoker or suffer with respiratory allergies. Outbreaks in this area can also be caused by dirty pillow cases and dirty mobile phones!!

Zone 13 &11: Hormones (the time of the month area)

When it’s that time of the month, this area will really show. Although the time of the month is sometimes unavoidable, try and make sure you get plenty of sleep and cut the stress out of your life. Drink plenty of water and eat lots of veg when the time of the month is coming up!

Zone 12: Stomach

Drink herbal tea's such as green tea or peppermint. Hot water and a slice of lemon are also good for bloating and calming the stomach down. Try to reduce toxin overload and make sure you take regular exercise.

Zone 14: Illness

Problems in this area can be a sign of fighting illness. If this is the case, make sure you give yourself time out. Do something for you, like going for a long walk on a lovely summer's evening, turning your mobile off at night, yoga etc.

Three amazing tips to get better skin:

1. When you can feel a spot coming, cleanse your face as normal, put some pure lavender oil on a cotton pad and wipe over the problem area before going to bed at night. Lavender is a natural calmer and will make the spot less irritated. It is great for acne areas too.

2. Two tea spoons of coconut oil in a cup of green tea in the morning help release toxins! (Great after a heavy weekend)

3. Breathe!!!! (This is my favourite one) By taking three deep breaths in and out when you are feeling stressed releases stress and a build-up of unwanted toxins. Stress free skin= HAPPY SKIN.

Have a lovely week everyone,

Love

Reflexology at Ellevisage

Today is a very exciting day in the world of Ellevisage Beauty. This is because we are now offering reflexology in the salon.

For those of you that don't know much about reflexology or think its a load of 'airy fairy rubbish' I suggest you read on, you'll find it fascinating.

Reflexology is an alternative medicine involving application of pressure to the feet and hands with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion. It is based on a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands, with the premise that such work effects a physical change to the body.

Did you know?

  • The body is divided into 10 longitudinal zones—five on each side of the body.
  • Each organ or part of the body is represented on the hands and feet;
  • The practitioner can diagnose abnormalities by feeling the hands or feet
  •  Massaging or pressing each area can stimulate the flow of energy, blood, nutrients,        and nerve impulses to the corresponding body zone and thereby relieve ailments in        that zone.

So why are we so excited to offer it in the salon?

    Below is why we are so excited about Reflexology;

    Benefits;

Nerve Function: As our bodies age, our nerve endings become less sensitive in parts of our body, particularly in our extremities. That being said, reflexology has been connected with stimulating more than 7,000 different nervous endings in a single session, thereby increasing their function and reactivity. Opening and cleaning out neural pathways can help improve functionality and flexibility of many areas around the body. Neural pathways are like muscles, so it is good to work them once in a while to keep them sharp!
Energy Levels: By aligning the functioning of various organ and muscle systems, reflexology can increase metabolism and energy creation processes within the body. If you need a boost in energy or are always feeling sluggish, perhaps a reflexology session can help put some pep back in your step!
Circulation: One of the most well-known and verified benefits of reflexology is an improvement in circulation throughout the body, which means that blood and oxygen are being cycled through the body more effectively. This means more oxygen reaches vital organ systems, thereby optimizing their functioning and further increasing the metabolism. This also results in faster healing and re-growth of damaged cells.
Relaxation: As mentioned above, reflexology has been known to open neural pathways, and this sort of free-flowing neural activity results in a more relaxed state in the body, one of reduced stress. For this reason, reflexology can flood your system with relaxation, inducing a state of calm throughout your body and mind. In this same vein, reflexology is commonly used to cure sleep disorders. Insomnia can be a very troubling condition to suffer through, but reflexology helps your body relax and get back to its normal, healthy Circadian rhythms.

Toxin Removal: Reflexology has been shown to improve bladder function and to reduce urinary tract issues. What this means in terms of toxicity is a more efficient system of eliminating toxins and other foreign substances, thereby protecting your body from the various diseases and health conditions that can often arise from a compromised urinary system.
Nervous System Stimulation: The open neural pathways can benefit our central nervous system in a variety of ways. not only will our brain be able to handle the inputs more effectively, thereby speeding up our cognitive powers, but our physical reactions will be faster, our memory will be boosted, and generally, our entire brain will simply work better and faster.
Migraines and Headaches: Reflexology is primarily used by many people as a method of eliminating pain. As an analgesic treatment, reflexology can reduce the severity of migraines and headaches, simply by relieving tension in the muscles that can often result in these conditions. Any headaches induced by stress can also be eliminated, since stress and psychological factors often manifest in the physical symptoms of a migraine. This is actually one of the most popular applications of reflexology.

Speeds Healing: The combination of increased nerve activity and circulation, as well as the more balanced functioning of the metabolism, means that cells re-grow faster and wounds are able to heal faster. Also, the pain-relieving qualities of reflexology mean that patients feel better faster, and are more willing to start physical recovery to get back into life!
Pregnancy and Menstruation: Studies have shown that reflexology can be very beneficial for pregnant women, particularly in terms of labour lengths and their need for analgesics during labour and post-partum recovery time. Beyond that, due to many of the health benefits already outlined above, it can reduce the chances of post-partum depression and can also help a woman’s body heal itself faster and get back to its normal metabolic activity quickly.

    Happy Monday

    Hello all,

After a brilliant weekend out in the fresh air, #Monday has hit us with a bit of a bump.

However, fear not! Ellevisage are here to save the day!

We want to share our latest make up tip with you today, so even if you are feeling slightly #blue, you can still look fabulous!

One question we always get asked when we are doing make up on clients is 'Why do we put a primer on our skin before applying the #foundation?'

Well lovely people here is your answer.....

A primer helps soften the skin before you apply #makeup. It also helps smooth the skin, and reduces those dreaded fine lines and dehydration lines. (Don't worry, you are not alone we all have them whatever our age)
A primer also helps our #makeup stay on longer. So for those of you that work long hours and do not have time to look in the mirror until you get home, a primer really would benefit you.
Last, but not least.. It helps seal pores. Large #pores are most women's biggest hate on their face. Lots of our clients think adding more and more #foundation will cover the pores, but instead it just blocks the pores and does not reduce their #appearance. In fact it makes them stand out more!!  A primer helps to create a silky soft protective duvet that covers over the pores, so you can barely see them!!

Now you want to know which primer to use.....

At Ellevisage, we love the #Airbase #Perfecting #Primer.

Airbase Perfecting Primer is unlike any other. This is the first primer to use platinum technology developed in a Swiss Laboratory. Providing a perfect first base our Perfecting Primer provides beautiful results whilst moisturising and nourishing with added anti-ageing properties.

The technology Negatively charged Colloidal Platinum maintains the electrical balance in the skin, re-aligning water molecules thus re-charging the electrical balance in the skin. This results in skins cells all sitting in one direction, enabling your skin to increase it’s moisture intake.

Airbase Perfecting Primer moisturises and protects the epidermis and has an anti-oxidant action. It minimises imperfections and fine lines, providing a perfect base for your make-up leaving you with a flawless illuminated and fresh look.
It is free of harmful ingredients, dermatologist tested.
Primer improves the look of skin as it softens the appearance of pores and lines. It gives make-up a more perfect finish and makes it last longer.
Using your finger tips smooth onto your skin. Apply using your ring finger around the eyes.

Call us at Ellevisage today to place your Perfecting Primer Order.

    Love The Ellevisage Team xx
